Notice of Race

1. Rules:

This regatta will be governed by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing for 2009-2012 (RRS), the prescription of US SAILING, the By-Laws of PHRF-New England, this Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions) and the Sailing Instructions.

2. Classes and Divisions:

2.1 J-105, J-24, PHRF (Racing and Cruising) yachts.  

 

3. Eligibility:

3.1 The 18th Annual Smuttynose Island Regatta is open to all J105 and J24 One-Design class association members and all yachts with a current valid handicap certificate issued by PHRF-New England.

3.2 To obtain handicap certificate, follow the directions on the PSA website under Join PSA or contact:

3.2 J24 There needs to be a minimum of 5 boats in order to have a fleet/awards. Otherwise J24 sailors included and rated on PHRF line. 

3.3 The J105 will be on its own starting line.    

4. Entry:

4.1 Entry fees are due by the Registration deadline of Friday 8/13 @ 20:00.

4.2 Entry Fee of $90 for J24, J105, and PHRF classes –

Pre-registration and/or notification of participation is suggested by August 10th, 2010. To hold a spot send email or contact Tracy Sherrill t12cshell@myfairpoint.net  603-422-2020.

Registration must be received no later than END OF REGISTRATION EVENT FRIDAY 8/13 and is suggested by mailing the entry fee, crew waivers, dinner fee and PHRF certificate, as required, to:

  5. Schedule of Races:

5.1 Racing is scheduled on Saturday, August 14th & Sunday August 15th 2009.

5.2 It is the intent of the Organizing Authority and Race Committee to conduct as many races as practical on each day of racing.

5.3 The first warning signal will be made at 1130 hours on each day of racing. No warning signal will be made after 1500 on Sunday August 15th, 2009.

6. Registration

6.0 Registration can be mailed as long as it is received in Portsmouth by 8/13.

6.1 On-site Registration will be held on the grounds of the UNH Coastal Marine Laboratory (See social activities for directions):

·         Late Registration (Last Chance) Friday August 13th from 1700 to 2000.

·         Saturday morning registration is an exception and by request MAY be made for emergency/travel considerations, and by approval from Race Chair Saturday morning August 14th from 0730 to 0830.   

6.2 Waivers of liability for skipper and crew must be submitted before a boat is officially entered in the regatta and can be scored.

6.3 Sailing instructions and any published Amendments will be available at the registration or at our website.

6.4 Skipper’s package will be available at the Registration Desk Friday night. It will include SIs, dinner tickets/bracelets, hat and giveaways.

6.5 Dinner Tickets are limited and must be preordered, 110 people max. In the event there are tickets left, they will be sold before the event Saturday eve.

 

7. Mooring Information:

8. Social Activities:

The Saturday night Regatta Party and Sunday’s awards ceremony will be held on the grounds of UNH Coastal Marine Laboratory (25 Wentworth Road, Newcastle, NH located adjacent to the US Coast Guard Station) overlooking the mouth of the Piscataqua River, New Castle Light, Fort Constitution, Whaleback Light and Fort Stark. 

·         Saturday Dinner includes refreshments at the bar. Cocktails immediately following racing. Dinner will start at approximately 5:30 pm.

·         You will need to have a Dinner bracelet this year in order to be served at the bar. 

·         Dinner Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased when the boat is registered and will be available on a first come first serve basis (no guarantees that there will be  any left on Saturday).
